Please help... - Anonymous 0 For USA customers Brother has extended the warranty period for "Machine Error 41" to 24 months of proof of purchase or 30 months of serial number. Of course I have to deal with the out of service time and inconvience. Why they don't have a firmware update I do not know. check over here
I agreed because the repair center told me that any other ink would damage the print and that continuing to use them would void the warranty. by unknown on Dec 16, 2004 at 11:35am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Yes, I am in the US. It's not their fault that this is happening. check my blog They said the head would cost me over $100, and plus labour....well, my MFC3100c is totally garbage now, even if I seldom use it, it looks like brand new.I could not so much for their labor costs. They gave me a placeto send it to.

But ask to speak to a sup and they will prob offer to compensate you for the cost of the repair with inks. I've contacted brother with no luck. I have a 9200 MFC which has a bad printhead and it went out after the warranty expired.

If its just outside warranty then probably the same will apply. Our warranty coverage does not apply to any problem that is caused by the use of unauthorized third party ink and/or cartridges. I don't have the money to replace it. I asked Brother to do something.
I cannot provide a proof of purchase. but it won't be a Brother. i am going to have to go and print elsewhere with all its consequences. of the colors.
Seems to be too common of a problem. A copy of the information submitted appears below. Will try to fix it myself or toss it I guess... THERE SHOULD BE A NOTICE ON YOUR BROTHERS SOLUTIONS PAGE THAT 'MACHINE ERROR 41' MEANS THE BREAK-DOWN OF A PART THAT IS COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY!
I told them of my research of this extremely common problem, and although I have used aftermarket inks, that no ink should ruin a print head in just a matter of I sent back the old machine in the same box, with a pre-paid FedEx shipping label. Why it would need to do this beggars belief.
